I did not, and while I don’t discourage that career path, I’m also happy I didn’t. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and during those 4 years I learned how the world works. I’m very happy with my science degree. For video, (or anything creative) I think it’s best to carve your own path. Finding your own influences and following your muse fosters a particular kind of creativity; one is that is your own. Isn’t that what being creative is all about?

My parents taught me at a very young age that being curious is one of the best qualities a guy can have. Asking questions and trying everything once is an extremely powerful way to live your life. Now, I’m still very curious, and I love learning about people, places, and events that seem unreal. The world is filled with these interesting things, but you have to dig a bit deeper to find them.

Some of what I experience might seem strange (especially to new viewers on my channel), and trust me, they’re very strange for me too. I’ve fallen in love with the experiences that are shocking for me, but so normal for the locals of that culture. Eating Pickled Pigs Feet, or the Island of the Hanging Dolls, are pretty normal for the locals, but extremely strange for anyone else. For half the world eating a burger is disgusting. Who is to say which culture is right?

This is the number one question.

The beautiful thing about our world today, is you can literally get paid to do anything. It REALLY doesn’t matter what your passion is, as long as you embody it completely. You have to ignore the criticism and failures. You have to smile at the negativity that inevitably tries to stop you.

You have to remember that the stairs to success are built with the people who gave up.

The question is, do you want to forever be one those people who gave up? Or one who succeeded? Will you be happy with your decision for the rest of your life?  It all boils down to willpower. How bad do you want it? Would you give up your everyday comforts to be able to get it? Are you going to to turn tail at the first pang of fear… of difficult times… or clench your fist and smash through? It’s your responsibility, and only yours. This concept can be either frightening or enlightening. It’s up to you to decide how you spend every minute of your life. The key is stop wishing, and start doing. There is no perfect time to start. You make your first video today. That’s how you travel the world for free.

I graduated university in Canada, and while I loved what I had studied, I didn’t feel like it was the correct path for me. I decided to start traveling with a camera instead. Vlogging was not easy in the beginning for me. I always laughed when people called me a natural… If you do 50 takes of anything, one is bound to be decent. That was my strategy in the beginning. The only natural talent I had for vlogging was patience.

After a few years of practice, I transitioned into Travel Filmmaking. I spend 3 years creating beautiful cinematic work for destinations and travel brands around the world. Most notably, a 25 Video Series about reunification of Germany for GermanyTourism with my friend Caspar of Story Travelers,

I returned back to my calling as an Adventure Travel YouTuber in 2016, and that’s probably how you found me now.

In over 50 countries, I would have to say Mexico and Indonesia are my absolute favorites. In no other countries have I experienced such a high density of amazing, and unbelievable things to see and do. I feel in either of these places you can head 10km in any direction and find something that’s extraordinary.
